Vanden Hoogen took seventh place at Wheaton College's Pete Wilson Invite last
weekend. His seventh place finish was out of 23 wrestlers in the 285 pound
weight-class. The junior defeated his opponents from Knox College and Messiah
College in the first two rounds, and then defeated Tom Nero from the University
of Chicago, 11-7 in the seventh place match.

Jonas Flok of Lakeland College

Flok improved his record to 16-10 with a first period pin over Concordia
University's Brandon Werner at 2:14. The Muskies (11-8, 2-1 LMC) defeated
Concordia, 26-16, in a Lake Michigan Conference dual last Thursday.

Kevin Koch of Concordia University

Senior Kevin Koch won his class at the Wisconsin Private College Tournament this
past Saturday at 141 pounds, and was voted Outstanding Wrestler of the meet.
Koch opened with an 8-1 decision over Lakeland's Kory Thell, and the defeated
MSOE's Ryan Forbes, 10-3, in the semifinals, Koch then defeated his opponent
from North Central to take a 2-1 decision in the final. Koch improved his season
record to 22-4, while the Falcons finished sixth in the event.

January 9-15
Kevin Koch of Concordia University
...Senior...141 pounds...Edgar, Wis. (Edgar)...
Koch placed fourth at the 42nd annual North Central College Invitational last
weekend. Koch went 4-2 in the tournament, including a pin over his Millikin
opponent and a 11-3 major decision over MSOE's Ryan Forbes.

January 2-8
Tim Vallier of Lakeland College
...Senior...174 pounds...Gladstone, Mich. (Gladstone)...
Vallier was 3-1 last week at the Knox Duals with all three of his victories
coming off pins in the first period. Vallier defeated his opponents from Wheaton
College and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in under a minute. He also
pinned his opponent from host Knox College at the three-minute mark. His lone
loss was to his opponent from the University of Dubuque via pin at 3:12. The
Muskies went 3-1 at the event bringing their season record to 10-7.

Matt Benson of Lakeland College

Benson went 2-0 at the Desert Duals in Las Vegas on December 19 defeating his
opponents from Central College of Iowa and Luther College. The Muskies (7-6, 1-0
LMC) defeated Central and Luther, but fell to Coe College and Simpson College
(Iowa) at the Las Vegas event.

Paul Hartt of Lakeland College
...Sophomore...184 Pounds...Port Charlotte, Fla. (Charlotte)...
Hartt recorded a pin at 4:11 over Maranatha Baptist's Clint Ifland, where the
Muskies (5-4, 1-0) defeated Maranatha 60-0. Hartt then defeated Brandon Conley
of UW-Platteville, 8-3, later in the week where Lakeland defeated the Pioneers
21-15.

Lee Sparks of Lakeland College
...Senior...197 Pounds...Otsego, Mich. (Otsego)...
Sparks started off the week with a 8-2 victory over Mitch Szwet of UW-Stevens
Point in a 21-12 Muskie loss. Sparks then went 3-0 at the MSOE Invite to claim
the championship at his weight class. He recorded a major decision over Derek
Knobeloch of Knoxville College, 18-8, and had pins over Eric Dardanes of
Lawrence and Tucker Surbrook of Olivet College. The Muskies (2-4) placed second
at the MSOE Invite.

Casey Klister of Lakeland College

Klister defeated Scott Sigmund, 8-4, improving his record to 4-1 in his rookie
season. The Muskies (2-3) fell to UW-Whitewater, 25-10, in the match.

Calvin O'Neal of Lakeland College
...Sophomore...174 Pounds...Sterling Heights, Mich. (Pontiac Central)...
The Muskies (2-2) defeated UW-Oshkosh, 30-10, last week including O'Neal's 7-5
defeat of his UW-Oshkosh opponent, Adam Dorner.

Joe Fields of Milwaukee School of
Engineering
...Senior...174 pounds...Farnhamville, Iowa (Prairie Valley)...
Fields started off the season 3-0, winning all three of his matches at the
Lakeland Duals in convincing fashion. The senior grappler defeated his
counterparts from UW-Eau Claire and Cornell College in major decisions, 13-3 and
12-4, respectively. Fields also defeated his opponent from Manchester College,
10-5. The Raiders went 1-2 at the event, defeating UW-Eau Claire 16-13, and
losing to Cornell and Manchester.
