2003 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Volleyball Player-of-the-Week (Nov. 3-9)
Monica Draeger of Lakeland College
...Senior...Middle Blocker...Lake Mills, WI (Lakeside Lutheran High School)
Dreager averaged 5.17 kills/games, 1.00 blocks/game, and had a .491 hitting percentage in two Lake Michigan Conference tournament matches last week. In a semifinal match versus MSOE, she broke the school record with a .826 hitting percentage. The Muskies defeated MSOE 3-0 in the semifinal, and Marian 3-0 in the championship. Lakeland (21-15) will play UW-Whitewater in the first round of the NCAA III tournament this Thursday.

 

Volleyball Players-of-the-Week (Oct. 27 - Nov. 2)
 ...Senior...Middle Blocker...Lake Mills, WI (Lakeside Lutheran High School)
Last week Draeger averaged 4.7 kills/game, 1.1 blocks/game and had a .400 hitting percentage in helping the Muskies clinch the LMC regular season championship last week.
Lakeland (19-15, 12-0 LMC) plays the winner of the #4 MSOE/#5 Wisconsin Lutheran in the LMC tournament semifinals on Friday at home in Sheboygan.

Denna Dolgner of Marian College

Waupun, WI (Waupun High School)
Dolgner averaged 4.9 kills/game, 1.4 blocks/game, 1.4 digs/game, and had a .404 hitting percentage to lead the Sabres to their 7th straight 20-win season. Second seeded Marian (20-10, 10-2 LMC) plays seventh seeded Maranatha Baptist in the LMC quarterfinals on Thursday in Fond du Lac.

 

Volleyball Player-of-the-Week (Oct. 20-26)
Kimberly Bond of Maranatha Baptist Bible College
...Freshman...Outside Hitter...Watertown, WI (Maranatha Baptist Academy)
Last Saturday versus MSOE, Bond averaged 4.25 digs/game, had a .375 hitting percentage, a perfect 1.000 service percentage, and served 13 points in a row at one time. The Crusaders are 13-17 overall, and 2-8 in the LMC.

 

Volleyball Player-of-the-Week (Oct. 13-19)
Monica Draeger of Lakeland College
...Senior...Middle Blocker...Lake Mills, WI (Lakeside Lutheran High School)
The senior middle blocker led the Muskies (15-11, 8-0 LMC) to a pair of conference victories last week, defeating Concordia and Edgewood in three games each. Draeger averaged 4.17 kills/game, 1.33 blocks/game and a .537 hitting percentage last week.

 

Volleyball Player-of-the-Week (Oct. 6-12)
Melissa Braaksma of Lakeland College
...Senior...Middle Blocker...Randolph, WI (Randolph High School)
Braaksma and the Muskies went 4-0 last week, all LMC matches. In the four matches, she averaged a hitting percentage of .443, totaled 37 kills (3.08/game) and 25 blocks (2.17/game). The league leading Muskies (13-11, 6-0 LMC) won all four matches in a minimum three games per match.

 

Volleyball Players-of-the-Week (Sept. 29-Oct. 5)
Miranda Cullins of Milwaukee School of Engineering
...Senior...Outside Hitter...Rhinelander, WI (Rhinelander High School)
Cullins helped the Raiders split a pair of LMC matches last week defeating Edgewood 3-1 and losing to Marian 0-3. Versus Edgewood she had 19 kills, and only 3 errors on 46 attempts for a .350 hitting percentage. Against Marian she had 12 kills, and 4 errors on 33 attempts for a .240 hitting percentage. Cullins also tallied 20 digs, and 14 digs, respectively. MSOE is 3-1 in the LMC, and 6-11 overall.

Denna Dolgner of Marian College
...Senior...Middle Hitter...Waupun, WI (Waupun High School)
For the third time this season, Dolgner receives the award. Dolgner had a phenomenal kill percentage of .500 for the week, accounting for 48 kills (5.33 per game) and just 5 errors in 86 attacks. She also had 9 solo and 8 assist blocks for 17 total blocks for the week, an average of almost 2 a game (1.89 avg). Dolgner was close to perfect in a win over Maranatha, as she finished with 19 kills (a 6.3 average) and no errors on 25 attempts. She recorded a .760 kill percentage, approaching the Top 20 all-time in NCAA history for kill % in a match. The Sabres are 6-1 in the LMC and 13-4 overall.

 

Volleyball Player-of-the-Week (Sept. 22-28)
Monica Draeger of Lakeland College
...Senior...Middle Blocker...Lake Mills, WI (Lakeside Lutheran High School) Draeger led the Muskies to a two wins last week, including a conference victory over LMC foe Marian. In three games versus Marian, she had 14 kills, 9 blocks (1 solo) and a .464 hitting percentage. In another three game sweep versus Carthage College she had 10 kills, 3 solo blocks, and a .300 hitting percentage. This is the second week in a row Draeger has won the LMC Player-of-the-Week award.

 

Volleyball Player-of-the-Week (Sept. 15-21)

In five matches last week, Draeger had over 60 kills, 10 kills and averaged a hitting percentage of over .300. The Muskies are 1-0 LMC, 5-10 overall this season.

 

Volleyball Players-of-the-Week (Sept. 8-14)
Deanna Dolgner of
Marian College
...Senior...Middle Hitter...Waupun, WI (Waupun High School)
Dolgner led Marian to a come-from-behind 3-2 win over regional rival Ripon College. She had 24 kills on a .352 kill percentage. Dolgner finished with 11 blocks (4 solo, 7 assisted) and added 7 digs. This is Dolgner’s second straight Player-of-the-Week award. The Sabres are 6-3 on the season.

 Becky Mattes of Wisconsin Lutheran College

Manitowoc, WI (Manitowoc Lutheran High School)
Mattes helped the Warriors to a 1-1 record last week as they lost to Beloit College and defeated Alverno College. Versus Beloit she had 10 kills and hit .167, and also had 1 ace and 2 solo blocks. In the victory over Alverno, she had 6 aces (served 92%), while tallying 14 Kills and hitting .243. WLC is 1-7 on the season.

 

Volleyball Player-of-the-Week (Sept. 1-7)
Deanna Dolgner of
Marian College

Dolgner had 50 kills in 4 matches (3.85 average), including a team-high kill % of .306 for the past seven days, had 13 total blocks (7 solo/6 assist; 1.0 average), and also tallied 4 service aces. The Sabres took second place at the Warhawk Invitational, going 3-1 with their only loss to tournament host and defending NCAA III National Champion UW-Whitewater.

 

 

Volleyball Player-of-the-Week (Aug. 29-31)
Jennifer Bauer of
Wisconsin Lutheran College
...Senior...Outside Hitter...Glendale, AZ (Arizona Lutheran Academy)
Bauer led the Warriors with 30 kills in the team's 4 matches last week. She also tallied 13 digs, 4 assists in the 4 matches. The Warriors opened the season 0-4 at the Kalamazoo College Tournament.
