The Falcons split a pair of LMC matches but Maricque was spectacular in
defeat. In a loss to Maranatha she ahd 17 kills with a .367 hitting percentage.
She also tallied 5 blocks, 44 digs (6.3/game) and 94% passing accuracy ratio.
Rebecca Schmidt, Edgewood College, Sr, MH, Wonewoc, WI
Schmidt helped the Eagles remain unbeaten in five conference matches by
showing her versatility and posting some stellar numbers. In match victories
over Lakeland and Maranatha, Schmidt tallied 32 kills (.300 kill percentage), 37
digs, and 18 blocks. She ranks among the league leaders in kills, digs, aces,
and blocks.
October 7, 1996 (week #2)
Jessica Krzewina, Marian College, Fr, OH, Wausaukee, WI
In a four set victory against Concordia, Krzewina tallied 16 kills with a .382
kill percentage to pace the Sabre attack. She also was 7 of 7 on serves ,and 20
of 21 on service receptions. The Sabres are off to a 2-0 start in the Lake
Michigan Conference.
Paula Brauer, Wisconsin Lutheran College, Sr, OH, Oakfield, WI
In two victories last week, Brauer amassed 21 kills, 2 aces, and 50 digs
(5.56/game). In the Warriors five set win against Lakeland, Brauer had 16 kills
with no errors while compiling an impressive .471 kill percentage.
September 23, 1996 (week #1)
Sara Smith, Cardinal Stritch College, Jr, MB, West Bend, WI
In leading Cardinal Stritch College to a 2-0 start in the Lake Michigan
Conference, Smith amassed 24 digs and 6 blocks. She recorded an attack % of .347
and a kill % of .446 in match wins over MSOE and Concordia.
Angela Boehm, Wisconsin Lutheran College, So, OH, Rawson, OH
In two matches last week, Boehm was nearly perfect. She had a serve % or .963
(26 of 27), and a kill % of .455 (22 attempts, 1 error, 11 kills). She also had
42 digs including 23 against Edgewood as the Warriors went 1-1 to start the LMC
season.
