2005 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

October 3-6
Lani Macheel of Marian College
...Junior...Beaver Dam, Wis. (Beaver Dam H.S.)...
Macheel won a pair of #1 Singles matches and a #1 Doubles match last week versus Carroll College and UW-Stout. Macheel moved her record to 9-3 in #1 Singles matches and 7-5 in #1 Doubles matches.

 

September 26-October 2
Laura Grabowski of Dominican University
...Junior...Omaha, Neb. (Lincoln-Way H.S.)...
Grabowski could not be stopped last week as she won all four of her matches, including two doubles, to help the Stars (5-6, 3-3 LMC) finish LMC regular season play at .500. Grabowski won both her #1 Singles and #1 Doubles matches defeating her opponents from Lakeland and Concordia (Ill.), respectively.

 

September 19-25
Lani Macheel of Marian College
...Junior...Beaver Dam, Wis. (Beaver Dam H.S.)...
Macheel was 3-0 in #1 Singles matches defeating opponents from Dominican, Elmhurst and Lakeland. Macheel teamed up with doubles partner Kim Vigness to win two doubles matches on the week as well, defeating their Lakeland and Elmhurst #1 Doubles opponents. The Sabres went 2-1 on the week defeating Elmhurst and Lakeland, but falling to Dominican.

September 12-18
Eileen Shanahan of Dominican University
...Sophomore...New Lenox, Ill. (Lincoln-Way H.S.)...
Shanahan tallied a 5-1 record last week, including a 3-0 record at #2 Doubles with partner Bo Durman. At the #4 Singles spot, Shanahan recorded a 7-5, 6-1 win at Elmhurst, and a 6-3, 6-2 win at Edgewood.

September 5-11
Lani Macheel of Marian College
...Junior...Beaver Dam, Wis. (Beaver Dam H.S.)...
Macheel won two #1 singles matches last week, as well as a #1 doubles match. Macheel defeated Julie Rendino of Carthage College, 7-5, 7-5, on Thursday, and then defeated Amanda Endres of MSOE, 6-2, 6-2, on Saturday in a Lake Michigan Conference dual. Also in the dual versus MSOE, Macheel teamed up with doubles partner Kim Vigness to defeat Cirrilli/Endres of MSOE, 9-7. The Sabres hold a 1-2 record on the season, and are 1-0 in the LMC.
