2005 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

May 2-May 8
Jessica Stephens of Edgewood College
...Sophomore...2B...St. Charles, IL (North H.S.)
In five LMC tournament games last week, Stephens led Edgewood with a .579 batting average (11-for-19) with five RBI and seven runs scored, including the game-winning run in the Eagles' 5-4 win over Marin in the deciding LMC tournament championship game. Her slugging percentage (.684) and on-base percentage (.600) were also team highs.

April 25-May 1
Katie Hensgen of Edgewood College
...Senior...3B...Waunakee, WI (Waunakee H.S.)
Hensgen led the Eagles to a 5-1 record last week, helping the team clinch its first LMC title since 1996. Hensgen hit .529 (9-for-17) in the team's six games, including two doubles and five RBI. Hensgen went 4-for-7 in double-header versus Concordia on April 28, 3-for-6 in the non-conference Rockford double-header on April 27, and was 2-for-4 in the Marian twinbill on April 25. In addition, Hensgen played flawless defense at third base going 16 changes without an error.

Leanna Gates of Maranatha Baptist Bible College
...Junior...P/C...Mechanicsburg, IL (Mechanicsburg H.S.)
In for games for the Crusaders last week Gates hit .600 (6-for-10), including a double and seven RBI for a .700 slugging percentage and a .714 on-base percentage. Gates also recorded one of two wins for the Crusaders against Mt. Mary College as she struck out three and walked two in a 10-1 victory.

April 18-April 24
Erin Timm of Wisconsin Lutheran College
...Senior...C...Appleton, WI (Fox Valley Lutheran H.S.)
Timm hit .550 in six games for the Warriors last week, going 11-of-20 with four RBI. In a 1-0 loss to Concordia on April 19, Timm was a homerun away from hitting for the cycle as she had a single, a double and a triple in the game. In a doubleheader versus Alverno, Timm had two sacrifice bunts and three RBI, and was 5-for-6 with no strikeouts at the plate. Defensively she had 22 putouts and four assists with no errors for the week, keeping her error free in conference play this season. The Warriors went 3-3 on the week.

April 11-April 17
Erin Schultz of Marian College
...Senior...1B...Campbellsport, WI (Campbellsport H.S.)
Schultz hit a team-leading .500 for the week, finishing with 14 hits in 28 at-bats. Schultz scored six runs, had six doubles and nine RBI, finishing the week with a .714 slugging percentage and a .559 on-base percentage. She had five multi-hit games last week, and was near perfect in the field, making just one error in 65 chances. The Sabres went 7-3 last week.

Brittany Butcher of Edgewood College
...Sophomore...P...St. Charles, IL (St. Charles H.S.)
Butcher earned four of the Eagles' eight victories last week and secured two saves as the Eagles went 8-0. Butcher hurled a total of 35.0 innings, including four complete games, and accumulated a miniscule 0.80 ERA. She game up just four earned run and tallied 32 strikeouts compared to just two walks. Butcher fanned 14 batter in an 11-inning victory over Alverno on April 13. She pitched a three-hitter and two-hitter versus MSOE on Carroll, respectively, on back-to-back days. Offensively, she tallied three hits, four runs, and three RBI.

April 4-April 10
Angi Hilgendorf of Concordia University
...Sophomore...P...Cedarburg, WI (Cedarburg H.S.)
Hilgendorf led the Falcons to a pair of conference wins last week while posting a 2-0 record from the mound with a 0.00 ERA. In two complete games Hilgendorf allowed no runs, 10 hits, and walked only two batters in the 4-0, and 2-0 wins over Maranatha and Alverno, respectively. She also recorded 12 strikeouts in the shutouts.

Erin Schultz of Marian College
...Senior...1B...Campbellsport, WI (Campbellsport H.S.)
Schultz led the Sabres to a 4-2 record last week with a team leading .450 (9-for-20) batting average. Schultz also knocked in five runs, and had a .650 slugging percentage, and a .522 on-base percentage. She went 3-for-4 with a RBI in a 2-0 win over MSOE on April 5. She them matched that performance going 3-for-4 again with two RBI in a win over Maranatha Baptist on April 9.

March 28-April 3
Brittany Butcher of Edgewood College
...Sophomore...P...St. Charles, IL (East H.S.)
Butcher pitched a one-hit shutout in the Eagles' 1-0 victory at Clarke College on March 31. Butcher retired 22 of the 25 batters she faced, striking out one and walking just two. It was Butcher's second shutout and fourth complete game of the season.

Julie Skenandore of Marian College
...Junior...P...DePere, WI (Freedom H.S.)
Skenandore went a perfect 4-0 in four complete game starts for the Sabres with an ERA of just 0.78. Skenandore had 28 strikeouts and allowed just three earned runs in 27.0 innings pitched. On March 29 she posted her tenth career shutout in a 8-0 win over Baruch. On March 31 versus Greenville, Skenandore tossed a five-hitter and allowed no earned runs while striking out six batters in the 4-1 victory. She then followed that up with her fourth straight win of the year giving up just one earned run in a win over Manchester on April 1.

March 21-27
Kiley Bryant of Alverno College
...Sophomore...1B...Evanston, IL (Evanston Township H.S.)
Bryant hit .500 (6-for-12) for the Inferno at the Snowbird Softball Invitational in Myrtle Beach, SC last week. In addition Bryant had a .538 on-base percentage and a .500 slugging percentage.

March 14-20
Brittany Butcher of Edgewood College
...Sophomore...P...St. Charles, IL (East H.S.)
Butcher began the season on a positive not last week by going 2-0 in the mound with a 0.97 ERA, which included 12 strikeouts. In a 7-3 extra-inning win over Western New England College on March 19, Butcher pitched all eight innings for the Eagles with five strikeouts. Butcher then shutout Mt. St. Mary College (NY) the next day, hurling all seven innings while allowing just three hits and striking out seven. At the plate, Butcher batted 2-for-6 (.333).

Ashley McNair of Wisconsin Lutheran College
...Freshman...OF...Stevensville, MI (Lakeshore H.S.)
McNair was a bright spot in the Warriors' 1-9 record last week. McNair led the team with a .423 batting average (11-for-26) and a .467 on base percentage. In the Warriors' only win, a 7-1 victory over Bethany Lutheran (Minn.), McNair went 4-for-4 scoring two runs. McNair tallied three doubles, six runs and three RBI last week.

Erin Schultz of Marian College
...Senior...1B...Campbellsport, WI (Campbellsport H.S.)
Schultz went 6-for-12 (.500) last week at the Finlandia Softball Tournament. Schultz hit two homeruns and had five RBI, including a .916 slugging percentage. The Sabres went 3-1 at the season opening tournament.
