2003 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Women's Soccer Player-of-the-Week (Nov. 3-9)
Allie Weiss of Lakeland College
...Freshman...Goalkeeper...New Berlin, WI (New Berlin High School)
In two Lake Michigan Conference tournament games, Weiss totaled 19 saves and allowed only one goal to help advance the Muskies to the NCAA III tournament. Lakeland defeated Wisconsin Lutheran in the semifinals 2-0, and Concordia 3-1 in the championship game. The Muskies (11-10-0) travel to Washington University in St. Louis, MO for a NCAA III women's soccer tournament first round game.

 

Women's Soccer Player-of-the-Week (Oct. 27 - Nov. 2)
Gretchen Miisch of Edgewood College
...Senior...Forward...La Crosse, WI (La Cross Aquinas High School)
Millisch tallied two goals and had an assist to lead the second seeded Eagles past seventh seeded
Marian College 5-0 in a Lake Michigan Conference tournament quarterfinal game last Saturday. #2 Edgewood (11-8-1, 4-1-1 LMC) hosts #3 Concordia University of Wisconsin (11-9-0, 4-2-0) this Wednesday at 7:00 pm in Madison.

 

Women's Soccer Player-of-the-Week (Oct. 20-26)
Catherine Chappell of Milwaukee School of Engineering
...Freshman...Midfielder/Forward...Lemont, IL (Lemont High School)
Chappell set up both goals in a 5-2 loss at Wisconsin Lutheran. She assisted on the first goal, and then was taken down in the penalty box while advancing to the goal, setting up a penalty kick the Raiders (4-11-0, 1-4-0 LMC) connected on. In a 4-3 win at Alverno, the freshman scored MSOE’s first 2 goals, and added an assist on their third goal.

 

Women's Soccer Player-of-the-Week (Oct. 13-19)
Amanda Smith of Lakeland College
...Junior...Forward...Neenah, WI (Neenah High School)
Smith scored 4 goals and added 5 assists as Lakeland College defeated LMC foe MSOE on Thursday. Smith continued her scoring prowess on the weekend as she added another 5 goals. Smith posted a hat trick in leading the Muskies to another LMC victory on Saturday as Lakeland was victorious 3-0 at Concordia. On Sunday, Smith found the back of the net twice as Lakeland (6-8-0, 3-1-0 LMC) battled to a hard-fought 4-2 loss to regionally ranked Carroll College.

 

Women's Soccer Player-of-the-Week (Oct. 6-12)
Kelly Sullivan of Edgewood College
...Freshman...Forward...Chippewa Falls, WI (McDonnell Central High School)
In two conference wins last week, Sullivan led the way for the Eagles. She scored all three Edgewood goals in route to a hat-trick in a 3-2 victory over Concordia University. Sullivan also tallied an assist in the 3-0 win over Marian College. Edgewood is a top of the LMC standings with a 2-0-1 record, and is 7-5-1 overall.

 

Women's Soccer Player-of-the-Week (Sept. 29-Oct. 5)
Sara Beardslee of Maranatha Baptist Bible College
...Freshman...Forward...Grand Blanc, MI (Springfield Christian Academy)
Beardslee tallied 4 goals in three games last week. The freshman forward scored 2 goals in a 6-2 win over MSOE, one in a 6-0 shutout over Mt. Mary, and one more in 2-2 double-overtime time game with Edgewood. The Crusaders are 0-0-1 in the LMC and 6-2-1 overall this season.

 

Women's Soccer Player-of-the-Week (Sept. 22-28)
Amy Herzfeldt of Lakeland College
...Senior...Midfielder...Appleton, WI Herzfeldt scored two goals and added an assist leading Lakeland College to a 4-1 win over the College of St. Catherine on Saturday. On Sunday, Herzfeldt scored all four goals en route to a 4-0 victory over visiting UW-Platteville. The two wins improved the Muskies overall record to 3-6 on the season.

 

Women's Soccer Player-of-the-Week (Sept. 15-21)
Trista Michels of Marian College
...Freshman...Forward...Fond du Lac, WI (Horace Mann High School)
Michels helped the Sabres to their first victory of the season scoring a hat-trick in the 6-0 victory. The Sabres are 1-6 on the season.

 

 

Women's Soccer Player-of-the-Week (Sept. 8-14)
Leah Leja of Milwaukee School of Engineering
...Freshman...Midfielder...Pulaski, WI (Pulaski High School
Leja led the Raiders to a 1-1 record last week losing 3-9 to Calumet College of St. Joseph’s and defeating Illinois Institute of Technology 5-0. MSOE played with a player short the entire game versus
Calumet, making Leja’s work that much more difficult. Already tallying an assist on their first goal, she scored MSOE’s third goal to trail 3-5 in the 60th minute. Against IIT, Leja opened the Raider’s scoring with the first two goals of the game. She also worked hard defensively to preserve MSOE’s first shutout of the season.

 

Women's Soccer Player-of-the-Week (Sept. 1-7)
Bethany Hoeppner of Concordia University
...Junior...Forward...Watertown, WI
Hoeppner helped the Falcons (2-2-0) to 2 wins last week as she scored 3 goals and added 2 assists in the victories over MSOE and North Central College.

 

Women's Soccer Player-of-the-Week (Aug. 29-31)
Tracy Bins of Lakeland College
...Freshman...Midfielder...New Franken, WI
Bins scored a goal and added an assist in the Muskies' season opening victory (3-0) at Rockford College (Illinois).
