2003 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Men's Soccer Player-of-the-Week (Nov. 3-9)
Peter Schreiber Jr. of Concordia University
...Sophomore...Forward...Milwaukee, WI (Milwaukee Lutheran High School)
In a 4-0 Lake Michigan Conference tournament semifinal win over MSOE, Schreiber had a goal and an assist. In the championship, the sophomore forward scored both Falcon goals, including the final goal coming with 1:15 remain in the game to propel Concordia to a 2-1 victory over Edgewood. The Falcons (13-6-1) play St. Norbert College in the first round of the NCAA III tournament tomorrow.

 

Men's Soccer Player-of-the-Week (Oct. 27 - Nov. 2)
Scott Kress of Lakeland College
...Freshman...Forward...Kiel, WI (Kiel High School)
Kress played a role in all four
Lakeland goals as the Muskies defeated Maranatha Baptist 4-0 in the Lake Michigan Conference tournament quarterfinals. Kress scored a goal, assisted on two others, and drew a penalty kick that resulted in the final goal. The third seeded Muskies (8-8-2, 3-1-2 LMC) play at second seeded Edgewood (9-9-2, 4-1-1) in Madison at 7:00 tonight.

 

Men's Soccer Player-of-the-Week (Oct. 20-26)
Rob Sergenian of Edgewood College
...Senior...Forward...Middleton, WI (Middleton High School)
Sergenian scored the game winning goal in a 3-2 win versus MSOE last Wednesday. In a 4-4 tie at Lakeland, he scored 3 goals to help the Eagles (8-9-2, 4-1-1 LMC) secure the #2 seed in the upcoming LMC tournament.

Marko Dugandzic of Marian College
...Junior...Goalie...Westchester, IL (St. Joseph High School)
The junior goalie made 11 saves in a 3-2 victory over Macalester College, a team that advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament last season. The Sabres (2-13-1, 1-3-1 LMC) face Maranatha Baptist (1-4-0 LMC) tonight to determine the #5 & #6 seeds in the LMC tournament.

 

Men's Soccer Player-of-the-Week (Oct. 13-19)
Steve Dziatkiewicz of Concordia University of Wisconsin
...Senior...Forward...Oconomowoc, WI (Oconomowoc High School)
The senior forward scored two goals in a 5-1 Falcon win over Lakeland on Saturday. CUW is 5-0-0 in the LMC and 9-5-1 overall, riding a five-game win streak.

 

Men's Soccer Player-of-the-Week (Oct. 6-12)
Jake Banas of Concordia University of Wisconsin
...Senior...Goalie...Cedarburg, WI (Cedarburg High School)
Banas led the Falcons in two conference wins last week and recorded two shutouts in the process. CUW defeated Edgewood College 3-0, and Wisconsin Lutheran College 1-0 in overtime. Concordia leads the Lake Michigan Conference standings with a 3-0-0 conference mark, and is 7-5-1 overall.

 

Men's Soccer Players-of-the-Week (Sept. 29-Oct. 5)
Tyler Burcalow of Edgewood College
...Freshman...Midfielder...Middleton, WI (Middleton H.S.)
Burcalow scored the lone goal of the game in a 1-0 victory over LMC foe Maranatha Baptist. The Eagles are 1-0-0 in the LMC and 4-6-1 overall this season.

 

Men's Soccer Players-of-the-Week (Sept. 22-28)
Scott Kress of Lakeland College
...Freshman...Forward...Kiel, WI (Kiel H.S.)
Kress scored both goals as the Lakeland College men defeated UW Platteville 2-1. The game winning goal, his fifth of the season, came with just 33 seconds remaining. The win improved the Muskies to 3-6 on the season.

Mark Losby of Edgewood College
...Junior...Forward...Mount Horeb, WI (Mount Horeb H.S.)
Losby scored 2 goals, including the games winner in a 3-1 victory over UW-Platteville last Friday. He also had a goal and an assists in the Eagles two other games last week. The Eagles are 3-6-1 on the season.

Chapman scored 2 goals in a 3-1 victory over UW-Platteville last week. The Falcons are now
4-3-1 on the season.

 

Men's Soccer Player-of-the-Week (Sept. 8-14)

In a non-conference game versus Carroll College last week, Carroll was up 2-1 early in the second half. Schreiber then took over the game scoring 2 goals to propel the Falcons (3-2-1) on to a 3-2 victory. Schreiber receives the award for the second straight week.

 

Men's Soccer Player-of-the-Week (Sept. 1-7)

Schreiber scored a goal in each of the Falcons’ 3 games last week. He scored once in a 3-0 victory over
North Central University, twice in a 5-1 win over Aurora University, and the lone goal in a 1-1 double-overtime tie versus UW-Whitewater. Concordia is 2-2-1 on the season.

 

Men's Soccer Player-of-the-Week (Aug. 29-31)
Steve Purcell of
Concordia University
...Junior...Goalie...St. Louis, MO (Lutheran North H.S.)
Purcell made several excellent saves in a 0-1 loss to Southwestern University (Texas). He also had 15 saves in a 0-1 loss to
Trinity University (Texas) who is ranked #3 in the preseason national poll. The Falcons opened the season 0-2.
