LAKE MICHIGAN CONFERENCE YEAR END AWARDS ANNOUNCED
MADISON,
Wis. -- The Lake Michigan Conference executive committee have announced the
All-Sports, Sportsmanship, and Administrator of the Year Awards for the just
completed 2005-06 academic year.
All-Sports Awards to Edgewood College Men and Lakeland College Women
For the second consecutive year the Lake Michigan Conference Men's All-Sports
Award was won by Edgewood College.
The Eagle men claimed the award with a 18.10 index, almost 3.25 better than
runner-up Concordia University. Edgewood captured conference titles in baseball
and golf, while winning the LMC soccer tournament championship. The Eagle men
also finished second in soccer, third in basketball including a runner-up finish
in the basketball tournament, and a third place finish in the LMC baseball
tournament. This was Edgewood's seventh overall All-Sports award, and the men's
second.
The Lakeland women's teams won their fourth award in
school history, including the fourth in five years (01-02, 02-03, 03-04, 05-06).
The Muskies edged out Concordia by 0.15, with a 19.86 index. Lakeland won LMC
titles in basketball and volleyball, and won the LMC tournament in basketball,
soccer and volleyball. They also took second in golf, soccer and softball.
The calculations for the All-Sports Awards are base
on a combination of the final regular season standings and postseason
tournaments (when applicable) for each sport.
Sportsmanship Awards to Alverno College, Maranatha Baptist Bible College and
Marian College
In a vote by the athletic directors Alverno College was named the winner of the
Women’s Sportsmanship Award. The Inferno won the award for the second
consecutive year.
Maranatha Baptist Bible College and Marian College
tied for the Men’s Sportsmanship Award. This marks the eighth time the Crusader
men have won the award, and the sixth time the Sabre men have done so.
Administrator of the Year Award to Edgewood’s Larson
Also, the Lake Michigan Conference athletic directors have named Dr. G. Steven
Larson, Edgewood College athletic director and LMC Executive Director, the
recipient of the Jerry Kruse Administrator of the Year Award for the 2005-06
academic year. This is the tenth consecutive year Larson’s peers have honored
him with this award. The award is named after Jerry Kruse, former LMC
Commissioner who passed away in 1996.

This award, in honor Jerry Kruse - former
Secretary-Treasurer / Commissioner, will be given annually based on a ballot of
LMC Athletic Directors. Athletic administrators, sports chairs, and committee
members from all LMC schools are eligible. In case of ties multiple awards will
be given.
