EDGEWOOD CAPTURES SECOND STRAIGHT WOMEN'S GOLF
CHAMPIONSHIP
HORTONVILLE,
Wis. --
The Edgewood College women's golf team
captured its second straight
Lake Michigan Conference Championship, and third overall at Eagle
Creek Golf Club in Hortonville, Wisconsin. The Eagles took a commanding lead
after the first day of competition with a score of 375, leading eventual
runner-up, Lakeland College, by 157. Though the Muskies took 13 strokes off
their second day total, it wasn't enough as the Eagles finished the two-day
event at 741. That was 310 strokes better than Lakeland (1051), the biggest
margin of victory and lowest two-day total in a LMC Women's Golf Championship.
Marian College rounded out the top three with a 1077
total, and Wisconsin Lutheran College shot a 1093. Concordia University and
Milwaukee School of Engineering did not qualify for team scores, due to not
fielding a minimum of four golfers in the championship event.
Edgewood junior Taryn Rechlicz (Madison, Wis.) was
named LMC Player of the Year for the second consecutive year, and was medalist
of the championship with a score of 159 (80-79). Also named to the five-player
All-LMC team were Eagle teammates Casey Brandreth (Brighton, Mich.), Nicole
Gluzinski (Lindenhurst, Ill.) and Kaitlyn Herzog (Waukesha, Wis.), as well as
Amanda Commons (Bonduel, Wis.) of Concordia University. Bobbi Endress of
Edgewood was named LMC Coach of the Year, also for the second consecutive year.
