1993-94 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Week #8, Feb. 21, 1994
Tracy Arndt, Jr, Fd, Grafton, WI - Concordia University
In two win last week (61-58, Lakeland; 62-60, WI Lutheran), Arndt tallied 24 points, 15 rebounds and an amazing 16 blocked shots. Against Lakeland she ahd a school-record 9 blocks including a game saver with :03 remaining and the score 59-58.

Becky Treptow, Jr, Fd, Mosinee, WI - Cardinal Stritch College
In two key reoad wins last week (58-49), Edgewood; 55-52, Marian), Treptow averaged 18.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 2 steals. She was 17-38 from the field as Cardinal Stritch clinched second place in the Lake Michigan Conference.

 

Week #7, Feb. 14, 1994
Livija Medne, Jr, G/F, Riga, Latvia - Concordia University
In two wins last week (89-15, Maranatha; 73-62, Silver Lake), Medne averaged 20.5 points and 7 rebounds to clinch their third consecutive, regular season, Lake Michigan Conference title.

Dawn Schmeizer, Sr, Fd, Sturgeon Bay - Lakeland College
In Lakeland's win over Edgewood College, Schmeizer had 20 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals. In the Muskies' victory against Marian College she scored 22 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assists and 5 steals.


 

Week #6, Feb. 7, 1994
Paula Brauer, Fr, Fd, Oakfield, WI - Wisconsin Lutheran College
In Wisconsin Lutheran's surprise victory over Cardinal Stritch College (62-54), Brauer made 9 of 16 shorts from the field (56%), including 2-3 from three-point range. In the gmae she scored 20 points and snared 8 reobunds.

Stephanie Sprenger, So, Fd, Howards Grove, WI - Lakeland College
In two games last week (W, 81-37 MSOEl L, 56-43 Cardinal Stritch), Sprenger averaged 15.5 points and 8.5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3.5 steals. She shot 59% (13-22) from the field and 83% from the line as the Muskies went 1-1 for the week.

 

Week #5, Jan. 31, 1994
Jodi Narges, Sr, Ct, Campbellsport, WI - Marian College
In wins over MSOE (71-50) and Edgewood (58-51) Narges poured in an average 24 points/contest, while shooting 65% from the floor. She also found time to snare 8 boards each game and became only the sixth player in Sabre women's basketball history to top the 1,000 point mark for her career.

Kelly Zahn, So, Fd, Two Rivers, WI  - Silver Lake College
In victories over Lakeland College (63-60) and Wisconsin Lutheran (90-69) Zahn averaged 20 points and 8 rebounds an outing. In the Lakers' win over Lakeland she scored 22 points.

 

Week #4, Jan. 24, 1994
Sonya Butts, Fr, Ct, Corvallis, OR - Milwaukee School of Engineering
In an 83-65 loss to Edgewood, Sonya Butts tallied 17 points on 80% field goal shooting and snared 19 rebounds. She helped MSOE to their first conference victory (79-46 over Maranatha) with 14 points and 9 rebounds. She leads the league in field goal shooting and is fourth in rebounding.

Becky Treptow, Jr, Ct, Mosinee, WI - Cardinal Stritch College
In victories over Marian College (47-34) and Silver Lake College (69-52), Treptow led the Crusaders with 30 points and 19 rebounds. In both games she guarded the oppositions top scorer and held them to 2 and 12 points respectively.

 

Week #3, Jan 18, 1994
Stephanie Locke, Jr, Gd, Ann Arbor, MI - Concordia University
In victories over Silver Lake (89-73) and Lakeland (66-64), Locke averaged 23 points. Against Silver Lake she scored a team high 31 points and had 4 steals. Concordia is now 12-0 and 8-0 in the Lake Michigan Conference.

Karen Schleis, Sr, Fd - Silver Lake College
In three games last week (Concordia, 73-89; Edgewood, 78-66, Maranatha, 96-17) Schleis scored 46 points and grabbed 39 rebounds. She leads the league in rebounding at 13.0/game.

 

Week #2, Jan. 10, 1994
Jodi Narges, Sr, Ct, Campbellsport, WI - Marian College
Jodi Narges tallied 23 points and 10 rebounds in Marian's 79-67 win at Wisconsin Lutheran. Narges made 9 of 18 field goal attempts and 5-8 of her free throws as the Sabres improved to 3-2 in the LMC.

 

Week #1
Livija Medne, Jr, G/F, Riga, Lativa - Concordia University
Medne has helped Concordia University to a quick 5-0 start in the LMC (9-0 overall) by averaging 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists. The 1992-93 LMC Most Valuable Player is shooting 56% from the field (43 of 77) and 70% from the line (16 of 23).

Tanya Leonhard, Fr, Ct, Sheboygan, WI - Marian College
Despite starting only one game for the Sabres, Leonhard is Marian's offensive leader averaging 15.8 points and 9.8 rebounds, while shooting 60% from the field (24 of 40). She came off the bench to tally 21 points (7-9 FGs and 7-11 FTs) against Silver Lake College.
