2001-02 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Men's Basketball Players of the Week announced
for week of February 4-10
The LMC Players of the Week for Men's Basketball have been announced for the week of February 4-10.  LMC Player of the Week honors were shared by Edgewood's Ryan Zander and Maranatha's Eddie Washetas.  Hustle Player of the Week was shared by Concordia's Derek Berger, and Marian's Joe Napier.

Zander averaged 18.5 points, 6 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and 1.5 steals as he helped the Eagles to a 2-0 record for the week.  He shot 13 of 22 from the field, with 3 of 4 from beyond the arc, and 8 of 9 from the FT line.

Washetas averaged 13 points, 15 boards, and 3 blocks as the Crusaders went 1-1 for the week.  His double-double was key in Maranatha's 78-70 win over MSOE.

Concordia's Berger averaged 18.5 points, and 8.5 rebounds per game to help the Falcons to a 1-1 record for the week.  Marian's Napier averaged 16 points on 14 of 21 shooting as the Sabres also went .500 (1-1) for the week.

Men's Basketball Players of the Week announced
The LMC Players of the Week for Men's Basketball have been announced for the week of January 28 - February 3.  LMC Player of the Week honors were shared by Edgewood's Luke Sadowski and Concordia's David Roasa.  Hustle Player of the Week was shared by Maranatha's Aaron Wilson, and Marian's Joe Napier.

Sadowski, a 5'10 junior guard from Mukwonago H.S., led all scorers with 20 in a 68-57 win over Maranatha.  He also shot 6-8 from the floor and a perfect 7-7 from the line while grabbing 6 rebounds and dishing out 3 assists.  The Eagles are currently 6-4 in the LMC and 13-10 overall.

Concordia's Roasa was a dominant force in the Falcon's win over Edgewood on January 31.  The 6'6 senior forward led all scorers with 19, on 50% shooting (7-14) and 5-7 from the charity stripe.  He was also a presence on the defensive end adding a pair of blocks and steals to go with 3 defensive rebounds.  The Falcons are currently 6-5 in the LMC and 14-9 overall.

Hustle Co-Player of the Week Joe Napier of Marian, was on fire in the Sabres' two LMC games this past week.  He averaged 18 points a contest on 77% (17-22) shooting.  He also average 4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest.  Marian is 14-8 overall and 6-4 in the LMC.

Napier's Co-Award winner Aaron Wilson was a all over the court in a tough loss to LMC foe Edgewood on January 28.  Wilson was 4 of 9 from the field, grabbing 2 rebounds, a steal, and dished out an assist.  He came to play down the stretch and helped his team keep the game close.  The Crusaders are currently 9-13 overall and 1-9 in league play.

Men's Basketball Players of the Week announced for January 21-27
The LMC Players of the Week for Men's Basketball were shared by Lakeland's Kyle Vogt and MSOE's Adam Lewis.  

Vogt was on fire this past week as the Muskies went 2-0 in LMC play.  He shot 14-22 (64%) from the floor and 9-12 (75%) from beyond the arc.  This gave him a 20 points per game average for the two games and his team 1st place in the LMC by beating Wisconsin Lutheran.

Lewis average 17 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game in MSOE's three games for the week.  He led the Raiders to their first LMC win of the season in a 82-67 win over Maranatha.

Hustle Players of the Week were Wisconsin Lutheran's Paul Nelson and Maranatha's Clayton Callan.  Nelson recoreded a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Edgewood.  Callan led Maranatha with 18 points in a 77-67 comeback win over Concordia.

Men's Basketball Players of the Week announced
for week of January 14-20
The LMC Players of the Week for Men's Basketball were shared by Maranatha's Eddie Washetas and Edgewood's Luke Sadowski.

Washetas had double-20 last Saturday against Wisconsin Lutheran as he scored 20 points and pulled down 22 rebounds in a 5-point lost to the LMC leaders.  The Crusader also added 4 blocks on the defensive end to show his presence.

Sadowski averaged 18 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals in two wins for the Eagles this past week.  This was done on 12 of 23 shooting from the field, including a perfect 7-7 performance from the charity stripe in the Eagles' win against Marian. The Eagles went 2-0 in LMC play for the week.

Hustle Players of the Week were shared by MSOE's Tezal McCain and Marian's Brian Crowe.  Crowe had 7 rebounds, 2 blocks and a steal in the Sabres' loss to Edgewood.  McCain led MSOE with 16 points and 15 boards in a tough loss to Edgewood.

Davis honored second straight time;
Men's Basketball Players of the Week announced
The LMC Players of the Week for Men's Basketball were shared by Marian's Scott Jaeger and Wisconsin Lutheran's Jess Pfeifer.

The Warrior's (8-8, 3-1 LMC) Pfeifer led all scorers with 25 points shooting 9-18 from the field and 4-9 from beyond the arc.  He also had 5 steals and 3 assists in the Warriors' 93-72 win over MSOE.

Jaeger racked up the stats in the Sabres' (10-5, 3-1 LMC) two conference contests this week.  He averaged 14 points, 5 assists, 4.5 boards, and 3 steals per contest.

Hustle Player of the Week honors were shared by Lakeland's Ricky Davis and MSOE's Adam Lewis.  Davis, last week's Player of the Week, is being honored for the second straight week.  Lakeland's (9-7, 4-1 LMC) Davis had 20 points, 5 rebounds, and was perfect (2-2) from beyond the arc.  The Raiders' (5-12, 0-4 LMC) Lewis recorded a double-double scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 8-12 from the field, in MSOE's only LMC contest of the week.

Malkowski honored second straight week;
Men's Basketball Players of the Week announced
The LMC Players of the Week for Men's Basketball were shared by Edgewood's Royce Malkowski and Lakeland's Ricky Davis.

Malkowski is honored for a second straight week after receiving the Hustle Player of the Week last week.  The Eagle recorded his second double-double in league play scoring 21 and pulling down 14 boards.  Malkowski also led the Eagles (6-5, 1-1 LMC) with 4 assists.

Davis led the Muskies (6-5, 3-1 LMC) to a conference win by leading all scorers with 19 points.  He also had 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks in the 65-59 win over Concordia.

Hustle Players of the Week were Maranatha's Dan Ofstie and Marian's Brian Crowe.  Ofstie grabbed 10 boards and scored double that with 20 points in the Crusaders' (5-6, 0-3 LMC) only LMC contest of the week.  Crowe was a rebound short of a double-double with 9, scored 16 points, and had 3 steals to lead the Sabres (5-4, 1-0 LMC) to their first conference win of the season.

Men's Basketball Players of the Week announced
The LMC Players of the Week for Men's Basketball for the first week of competition have been announced.  Player of the Week honors were shared by Concordia's David Roasa and Wisconsin Lutheran's Paul Nelson.  Roasa helped the Falcons (4-3, 1-0 LMC) gain their first conference win scoring 12 points and a team leading 13 rebounds.  Nelson led the Warriors (6-4) to a 2-0 LMC start averaging 19 points per game and 11 rebounds per game.

Hustle Player of the Week honors were given to Edgewood's Royce Malkowski and Maranatha's Eddie Washetas.  Malkowski scored 22 points and grabbed 12 boards in the Eagles' (3-5, 0-1 LMC) LMC opener.  Washetas scored 23 points and snagged 14 rebounds in the Crusaders' (5-3, 0-2 LMC) only LMC contest of the week.
