LMC BASEBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
ANNOUNCED
Marian College’s Kurt Miller was named Lake Michigan
Conference Hitter of the Week. Last week in the LMC tournament he hit .429 from
the plate including 2 homeruns and 3 doubles. The sophomore catcher from
Sheboygan North High School also had 6 RBI’s and a .857 slugging percentage. The
Sabres finished second in the conference tournament.
Lakeland’s Steve Plucinski and Ryan Govek were named Lake Michigan Conference
Co-Pitchers of the Week. Plucinski, a sophomore from Mundelein High School
(Illinois), struck out 23 batters in 11 innings pitched. Govek, a senior from
Wausau East High School, struck out 13 batters and had 0 earned runs in 11
innings pitched. The Muskies won the LMC Tournament by defeating Marian 4-1 in
the championship game.

LMC BASEBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
ANNOUNCED
Edgewood College's Travis Krahn
was named Lake Michigan Conference Hitter of the Week. The junior infielder from
Rochester Mayo High School (Minnesota) hit 2 triples, 1 double, and 1 homerun on
6-for-9 hitting. Krahn also had 8 RBIs.
Lakeland's Steve Plucinski was named Lake Michigan
Conference Pitcher of the Week. The sophomore from Mundelein High School
(Illinois) tied an NCAA Division III record by striking out 22 batters verses
Edgewood College last Tuesday. He allowed just one hit and walked one in the
complete game performance. He faced just one batter over the minimum and allowed
just one runner to reach second base. Plucinski also had a save verses Carroll
College on Sunday, April 27th by throwing two scoreless innings in Lakeland's
13-11 win, and had another save verses MSOE by throwing a scoreless inning in
Lakeland's 5-4 win on Saturday, May 3rd.

LMC BASEBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
ANNOUNCED
Wisconsin Lutheran College's
Jake Markovic was named Lake Michigan Conference Hitter of the Week. The senior
shortstop from Heritage Christian High School went 12-19 (.632) at the plate
last week. Markovic also had 10 RBI's, 6 runs, and a homerun. In the Warriors'
14-13 win over MSOE, he had a double that knocked in two runs which put his team
up 13-12. He then scored himself to put them up 14-12. WLC is currently 6-6 in
the LMC, five games back of first place Lakeland.
Concordia's Scott Moertl and Marian's Tom van Kasteren
were named Lake Michigan Conference Co-Pitchers of the Week.
Concordia's Scott Moertl, a senior from West Allis Hale
High School, threw a complete game 3-hitter versus Edgewood last week. Moertl
struck out 6, walked 1, and gave up only 1 earned run in 9 innings. The Falcons
finish the LMC regular season 9-9, and are 13-17 overall.
Marian's Tom van Kasteren, a junior from East Elgin High
School, pitched a complete game shutout versus Maranatha last week. The southpaw
struck out 10, walked none, and gave up only 5 hits. The Sabres are 9-6 in the
LMC, 3.5 games back of Lakeland.

LMC BASEBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
ANNOUNCED
Lakeland College’s Shane Hansen and Wisconsin Lutheran
College’s Tim Rennicke were named Lake Michigan Conference Co-Hitters of the
Week.
Hansen, a sophomore third
baseman from Ripon High School, hit 16-for-22 (.727) in five games this past
week. He had 8 RBI’s, 6 doubles, 2 homeruns, and 2 stolen bases. This is
Hansen’s second LMC Hitter of the Week honor this season. The Muskies (15-10,
9-2 LMC) went 5-0 last week and have won 6 games in a row.
Rennicke, a sophomore second
baseman/pitcher from Mequon Homestead High School, hit 4-for-7 (.571) in a
pair of LMC games versus MSOE. He had a two-run homer and 3 RBI’s in an 8-5
win where he also pitched a complete game. The Warriors (6-14, 5-3 LMC) are
currently in second place in the LMC.
Lakeland’s Steve Plucinski, a
sophomore from Mundelein High School (Illinois), was named Lake Michigan
Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season. He threw a
complete game 4-hitter versus Edgewood last Tuesday night. Plucinski struck
out 10 and walked only 2 in the 4-0 shutout victory. He currently has a 15
inning scoreless streak.

LMC BASEBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
ANNOUNCED
Marian College’s Josh McDermott was named Lake Michigan
Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week. The junior first baseman from Horace
Mann High School went 9-for-14 at the plate for a .643 batting average last
week. McDermott also had 9 RBIs, was walked 4 times, and hit-by-pitch 4 times.
Marian is 4-4 in the LMC, one game back of first place.
Ryan Govek of Lakeland College
was named Lake Michigan Conference Pitcher of the Week. The senior from Wausau
East High School threw a no-hitter versus Concordia University on April 12th
in a 7-inning game. Govek struck out 10 and walked 5 in the game. He allowed
just one runner to reach second base, and didn’t have one ball reach the
outfield. This is the second no-hitter in Lakeland history, the last was in
1995. Lakeland 10-10 overall and is tied a top the LMC with Wisconsin Lutheran
College, both holding 4-2 records.

ANNOUNCED
Edgewood College's Travis Krahn
and Lakeland College's Justin Wolter were named Lake Michigan Conference
Baseball Co-Hitters of the Week.
Krahn, a junior infielder from Rochester Mayo High School
(Minnesota), went 11-for-14 (.786) at the plate where six of his eleven hits
were doubles. He also scored five runs, had eight RBIs and one stolen base last
week. The Eagles went 2-1 last week, and are currently 3-1 in the LMC, tied for
first with Wisconsin Lutheran College.
Wolter, a senior catcher from Kaukauna High School
(Wisconsin), was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate in a second game of a
doubleheader versus Marian College. He also had a three-run homer, three RBIs
and one stolen base in the game. The Muskies are a game-and-one-half back of
first.
Jim Lisbeth of Marian College was named Lake Michigan
Conference Pitcher of the Week. The sophomore from Oshkosh West High School
(Wisconsin) had seven strikeouts in 7.2 innings pitched as the Sabres defeated
Lakeland 2-1 in extra innings last week. Lisbeth gave up only one earned run,
five hits and walked only two batters in the game. Marian is 2-1 in the LMC, a
half-game back of first place.

ANNOUNCED
Lakeland College’s Shane Hansen was named Lake Michigan
Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week. The sophomore infielder from Ripon High
School (Wisconsin) went 2-4 at the plate for a .500 batting average in the
Muskies’ first LMC game of the season. Hansen also had an RBI and scored three
runs in the 7-8 loss to Marian College.
Muskie teammate Steve
Plucinski, a sophomore from Mundelein, Illinois, was named Lake Michigan
Conference Pitcher of the Week. He pitched 7 1/3 innings allowing only six hits
and one earned run. Plucinski walked only two batters and struck out 12 in the
10 inning game.

LMC BASEBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
ANNOUNCED
Marian College’s Kurt Miller was named Lake Michigan
Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week. The sophomore catcher from Sheboygan
North High School (Wisconsin) hit .385 in six games for the Sabres. Miller hit
two homeruns, including one against #6 Wheaton College, and eight RBIs last
week.
Sabre teammate Jason Bunton was
named Lake Michigan Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Bunton pitched two
complete games last week gaining two victories with a 1.29 ERA. The sophomore
southpaw from Wabeno High School (Wisconsin) struck out five batters in a 14-0
shutout over Endicott College, and struck out another five in a 6-3 victory over
nationally ranked Wheaton College. Marian is currently 3-5 on the season.

LMC BASEBALL PLAYERS OF THE
WEEK ANNOUNCED
Concordia University’s Andy Tuler was named Lake Michigan Conference
Baseball Hitter of the Week. The junior infielder from West Allis, Wisconsin
went 7-11 at the plate for a .636 batting average in the Falcons’ first four
games. Tuler hit three doubles, one triple, and knocked in five runs.
Falcon teammate Chris Kaebisch was
named Lake Michigan Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Kaebisch claimed
his first victory of the season in a 7-1 decision over Dordt College. The
sophomore from Germantown, Wisconsin pitched a complete game giving up only one
earned run and three hits. The Falcons currently have a 3-1 record.
