1998 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

May 5, 1998 (week #4)
HITTER
Brian Walczak, Concordia University, Jr, IF, Milwaukee, WI
Walczak went 5-7 in a doubleheader split with Wisconsin Lutheran. Concordia and Marian shared the regular season LMC title as Walczak had a double and 3 runs batted in on the day. The Falcons earned the top seed in the LMC Tournament.

PITCHER
Brian Ewerdt, Wisconsin Lutheran College, Sr, P, Brownsville, WI (Winnebago Lutheran Academy)
Ewerdt threw the Lake Michigan Conference race into a wild chase as he tossed a complete game five-hitter in a 6-3 win over Concordia University. He allowed three earned run and struck out three Falcon batters to keep Concordia from winning the LMC regular season title outright.



April 14, 1998 (week #1)
HITTER
Brian Ewerdt, Wisconsin Lutheran College, Sr, 1B/P, Brownsville, WI (Winnebago Lutheran Academy)
Ewerdt had a home run, 2 runs batted in and a run scored in the Warriors 8-7 game one win over Maranatha Baptist. He then wen out and hurled a complete games 3-hitter for the win the the nightcap and a sweep of the Crusaders.

PITCHER
Mike Webster, Edgewood College, So, P, Varna, IL (Henry-Senachwine High School)
Webster had a complete game victory over Marian College, 7-1, in last Saturday's nightcap at Verona. The sophomore southpaw had the Sabres hitless into the 4th innings and scattered 6 hits while striking out 2 and walking 2. It was the Eagles first ever win over Marian in 16 tries.
